1. Platform Service
Neighbourhood Bids is a matchmaking platform and service that connects homeowners with professional service providers. We facilitate introductions and manage the bidding process but do not perform any services ourselves.
IMPORTANT: Neighbourhood Bids does not take liability or responsibility for:
- Projects completed by professionals
- Quality of work performed
- Damages incurred during project execution
- Any disputes between customers and professionals
- Professional conduct or business practices
2. Professional Responsibility & Insurance
All professionals are required to maintain active General Liability (GL) insurance policies. Professionals are solely responsible for:
- All damages, injuries, or losses occurring during project execution
- Maintaining adequate insurance coverage at all times
- Professional workmanship and project completion
- Compliance with local laws, codes, and regulations
- Obtaining necessary permits and licenses
Customers should verify insurance coverage and request proof of insurance before project commencement.
3. Bidding Process & Payment Terms
How It Works:
- Customer posts a project for free
- Professionals submit competitive bids
- Customer reviews bids and selects a professional
- Customer pays 10% platform deposit (on top of bid amount) to secure the professional
- Professional completes the work
- Customer pays 100% of the bid amount to the professional upon satisfactory completion
Payment Structure:
- 10% Platform Deposit: Charged in addition to the professional's bid amount. This deposit is paid to Neighbourhood Bids to secure your booking. If the customer cancels after accepting a bid, this deposit is non-refundable and retained by Neighbourhood Bids.
- 100% Professional Payment: The professional receives the full 100% of their bid amount upon project completion. Customer pays the entire bid amount directly to the professional when satisfied with the work. The platform does not take any commission from the professional's payment.
- Example: If a professional bids $1,000, the customer pays a $100 platform deposit upfront (to Neighbourhood Bids), then pays the full $1,000 to the professional at completion (total customer cost: $1,100). The professional receives 100% of their $1,000 bid.

6. Non-Solicitation Clause
By using Neighbourhood Bids, all parties agree NOT to circumvent or bypass our matchmaking services.
Prohibited Actions:
- Professionals may not solicit customers to complete work outside the platform to avoid fees
- Customers may not request professionals to complete work outside the platform to avoid payment processing
- Sharing contact information with the intent to bypass the platform is prohibited
- Any attempt to undercut or circumvent our matchmaking services
7. Account Terms
- You must be at least 18 years old to use this service
- You must provide accurate and complete information
- You are responsible for maintaining account security
- One person or business per account
- We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone for any reason
8. Dispute Resolution
Any disputes between customers and professionals should be resolved directly between the parties. Neighbourhood Bids can facilitate communication but is not responsible for resolving disputes or issuing refunds.

9. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. Users will be notified of significant changes via email. Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
